Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American anchor for a television newscast and a anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. After growing up living in New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office by 1988. In 1992, she was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and participated as panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the debate in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contributions to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy reports, including arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
